PIPEFLO

Proven Steady-State Solutions for Single and Multiphase Flow

Pressure performance behaviour is often counter-intuitive and is one of the key reasons for modelling.  Pressure performance plots highlight the impact of multiphase flow in hilly terrain pipelines. In many operating scenarios, the lowest pressure loss occurs when a “medium” sized line is used. If larger lines are used, liquid loading occurs and increasing hydrostatic pressure losses cause the overall pressure loss to increase. If smaller lines are used, increasing frictional pressure losses cause the overall pressure loss to increase.

PIPEFLO is a verified and proven steady state simulator for simple and complex networks.

Capabilities

PIPEFLO is a steady state simulator for flow assurance issues.

PIPEFLO’s features for sensitivity studies make it fast and easy for users to consider a wide variety of options in order to arrive at the best solutions for their design issues and operational problems.

  • Flow Assurance
  • Pipeline Design
  • Automatic Facility Locator
  • Advanced Sensitivity Studies
  • Export to OLGA
  • Hydrates
  • Corrosion
  • Pipeline Optimisation
  • Pipeline Cool Down Calculation
  • Pipeline Looping

Solution include

  • Designing a water distribution network for an enhanced oil recovery project
  • Sizing pipelines in a two-phase heavy oil system
  • Predicting and locating corrosion potential in a sour gas pipeline
  • Designing the facility requirements to maintain acid gas in the liquid phase in a disposal operation
  • Locating compressor stations in a gas transmission line
  • Analysing gathering systems that include fibreglass or PVC line
  • Designing heat tracing for a liquid sulfur line
  • Expanding steady-state slugging studies to include transient modelling via a link with OLGA® for flow assurance in offshore pipeline systems

May I express my thanks for the help your company has given us over the last academic year? The access to PIPEFLO has enhanced the experience of students on our Chemical Engineering Master of Engineering course.

I used it in our module on Multiphase Systems as a new case study (i.e., assessed course work). The exposure to an industry standard commercial code will stand them in good stead and no doubt they will be seeking to have the code in the companies where they work.

The feedback from the students is that they found the PIPEFLO exercise very rewarding. The best ones made excellent use of the code and produced top class reports.

Yours sincerely"
